A lot of people have been quoting Steve Schmidt about how same-sex marriage is not un-American (which should be Operation: Duh) but I also found this quote from his interview with The Blade pretty poignant as well, especially considering that today is the Day of Silence for kids who support gay rights and want to bring attention to the damaging effect of homophobic bullying and violence within schools:
I think one of the most tragic things in the world [is] when people are closeted and are denied their sexuality and this incredibly important part of their lives and the destructive potential of that action.
Anyways, I wrote more about same-sex marriages/the GOP here, but the Day of Silence thing is kind of close to my heart.
