Yesterday I went to Kate’s Paperie to get some business cards/formal calling cards made up with my info so I can stop feeling like I am 12 years old around other actual “writers.” I got some really really nice ones from Crane & Co. that were also ridiculously expensive but since they are a tax write off (I hope?) I could care less. I’d rather the money went into fancy useless pieces of paper than into the government.
Actually, the cards are not that useless, they serve a specific purpose. And that purpose is to do this:

(On a related note: can you believe someone wrote an ENTIRE BOOK about handing out your business card? Is it really that difficult or are business people so stupid that they will buy a book about anything?)
Anyways, while I was at Kate’s Paperie I got sucked into the wonderful world of paper and bought this dumb book about “social stationary” and I started to think that I needed to invest in formal stationary, etc. but luckily I came to my senses after the afterglow of Kate’s wore off. Why the fuck would I need formal stationary? When do I write letters? Yes, a few “Thank You” and blank cards are nice to keep around but I am not a socialite and I am fairly familiar with the innerworkings of the world wide web as are all of my friends and aquantainces. I do not need stationary beyond a simple paper pad and some standard envelopes.
I’m really glad I came to my senses because that shit is really expensive.
