A $75 pillow and a new reason to mock me

Here are a few things:

1. I am taking a meditation class at school because I needed an “easy” 2 credit course and my stress levels are NOT AWESOME.

2. We have to buy “meditation cushions” for the class so I went over to East West Books after school because it was close and I needed the cushion by Thursday. I saw some moderately priced ($50) cushions but they were covered in satin, had a sewn-on Buddha charm hanging from one of the edges and had the words “Tantric pillow” stitched on the sides. Satin and charms I can live with, but having everyone come over to my house and make fun of me for having a tantric pillow is something that I could not put up with for an entire semester. So I bought this one:

And it cost $75. $75! For a pillow! I was a little upset. I better turn this meditation class into a whole “lifestyle change” thing and start getting really into meditation and practice 4 times a day so I can feel like the pillow is paying for itself. I can turn into this guy:

Let me ask you something: does that make you want to do meditation or yoga or anything? Dude with gelled hair and see-through shirt? I don’t want to be associated with that. Someone should talk to the meditation people about remarketing thier whole meditation thing away from the crystal-healing crowd and toning down the cheesy.
