Books I might not read before I die (Partie n˚2).

bmkk:

I’m not too happy with the way I wrote my post yesterday, so I’ve come up with a second idea, which I hope will be more interesting.

I was hoping that I could create something like a virus (only it’d be a good virus, if it indeed broke out), which would propel a discussion among everyone w/r/t what books others think they just have to read before dying.

But, to make it interesting (if it works!), I was thinking everyone could list a couple of classic books that s/he’s never got around to reading, and which s/he doesn’t really plan on reading anytime in the near future. Then, you should use the little tumblr box (or comments if you have them) to ask people why they think you should read those books way sooner than you were planning to.

I think it’d be quite wonderful to hear everyone’s opinion concerning all the different books that they’d want everyone else to read before they die

(P.S Thank you to all who responded to my first post; I will now be sure to read those books not only before I die, but in the very near future (in which I hopefully will not pass away!).

I do believe that this would indeed be a thought-provoking experiment, don’t you?

Stuff I plan on never reading: anything by Ayn Rand (for obvious reasons, but some people tell me I should read her if I’m going to bash her fans), In Search of Lost Time by Proust (no real reason) and On The Road by Kerouac (again, no real reason).

  2. bmichael answered: It’s tough to convince someone to do something he doesnt want to do when he has no good reason for it.
  3. mills answered: I do, but have been told that people don’t want thoughts provoked; they just want to feel as though thoughts were provoked. Who knows?
